NEWS | Week beginning April 20th | PS4, Black Ops 3 & The Steam Workshop

Evening guys, another week of video gaming news inbound!

Will you be picking up a PS4?
First up, the PS4 has received a limited time price cut. As reported last week, the Xbox One had received a price drop, going from £349.99 to £299.99. It now seems that Playstation are responding to this price drop by also dropping the price of the PS4, going from its regular price of £349.99 to £299.99. This offer from Sony is only available in the UK, and the offer will last until Tuesday 28th April. You can pick up a reduced PS4 at major retailers, including GAME and Amazon.
Does Sony see Microsoft's price drop as a threat or is the price drop just a mere coincidence?

The supposed leaked Call of Duty inlay...
Next up, Activision's new Call of Duty game, Black Ops 3, has had some details leaked about the game. An inlay that was not supposed to be revealed yet, tells us that the game will be released on November 6th, keeping in trend with previous Call of Duty releases. The inlay also tells us that there will be a beta for the game, however, the beta will only be open for people who pre-order the game. This leak will not please Activision, especially as the game is expected to be 'officially' revealed in the coming days.
Additionally, another teaser trailer has been revealed for the game. The trailer, simply titled 'Ember', gives us an insight into how technology could effect humanity. Again, much like the first teaser trailer, nothing about that game has been revealed. It does however give us an idea what to expect from the next Call of Duty. Lots of future looking stuff!

Here's the new teaser trailer if you haven't already seen it:

Finally, Valve has introduced paid mods to the Steam Workshop. As reported by Gamer Attitude, mod creators now have the opportunity to charge gamers for their mods. Steam users were met with a message on Thursday, announcing that mods could potentially cost.
Some of the new paid mods available for Skyrim...
These new paid mods have only been released for the four year old Skyrim, however, Valve have said that the feature will be released for more titles in the upcoming weeks. The mods, going from skin sets to unique weapons, will cost gamers money to download. However, if gamers are unsatisfied by any
mod, they can request a full refund. Creators who want to charge for their mods will have to send their mod to Steam who will review the mod and see if it is suitable to take advantage of the new feature implemented by Steam.
Unsurprisingly, the Steam community is unhappy. Petitions and campaigns have all been started by angry Steam users, trying to get Steam remove the feature. Some modders have even created mods for players to download in Skyrim, expressing their anger at the feature.
The Steam community is know for its creativity, so asking gamers to pay for mods has unsurprisingly been met with displeasure.

Would you be happy to pay for previously free mods? Will you be picking up a reduced PS4 in the coming days? Does the Call of Duty leak surprise you? Leave your answers and opinions in the comments below!

And as always, thanks for reading!

Connor :)
