NEWS | Week beginning April 13th | Xbox One, Star Wars: Battlefront & GTA 5

Afternoon guys, same as last week, I've gathered my top 3 stories of the week and I'll be talking about them, so, let's get going!

Could this be the start of  Xbox's dominance in the console
war?
Firstly, the Xbox One has once again received a price drop. As reported by Eurogamer, Microsoft has begun advertising its next-gen/current-gen console at a new price of £299.99. Microsoft has stated that this new price point "is only a UK-only retail promotion" and "offers great value ahead of the launch of 2015's highly anticipated games...".
This is the fourth time since the Xbox One's launch in 2013 that the console has received a price drop, where it originally cost £429.99. Since then, it has been dropped from £429.99, to £399.99 during the console's first Christmas, it then dropped to £349.99 when Microsoft released the Kinect-free bundle, last September, the console was then dropped to £329.99 ahead of the release of The Halo Master Chief collection and finally it has been dropped further to £299.99.
Microsoft has stated that the drop in price is clearly a promotion, but could this price drop be Microsoft's answer to overtaking Playstation in sales. Since the PS4's release in 2013, the console has sold more each month that Xbox, only being beaten recently, and the price of the PS4 has also stayed at its original price of £349.99.

This could be an attempt by Microsoft to try and outsell Playstation and finally overtake them in the console war. Whether it will work or not, we'll just have to see.

Will the new Star Wars game deliver?
Next up, Star Wars: Battlefront finally has a release date. EA has announced that the upcoming Star Wars game will release during November, specifically the 17th for the US, 19th for Europe and the 20th for the UK. Along with the release dates, DICE have also released a new trailer to celebrate. Horray! As of yet, no gameplay has been shown, however, DICE have announced that the game will not feature a single-player campaign. This may come of a shock to die-hard DICE followers as all of the Battlefield games, which are developed by DICE, feature a single-player campaign, as well as multi-player.

Both Battlefront games that have been previously released were great, allowing players to fight using a variety of different classes and characters that feature in the Star Wars movies, including Darth Vader, Obi Wan and Yoda, and looking at the trailer, it looks as if we'll be seeing our favourite Star Wars characters again!

Here's the newly released trailer if you haven't seen it yet:

Finally, GTA V has been released for the PC. The VGX Game of the Year 2013 has finally released on the PC, allowing PC gamers to finally get a piece of the GTA action. Since the release of the game in 2013, PC gamers have been patiently waiting for the release of the game, suffering delay after delay, excuse after excuse. Yet, their patience has been rewarded.
The game contains a variety of different features that the console version of the game does not. Some of the standout features include:

Its sooooo preettttyyyyy...
  • gameplay in 60fps
  • an in-game video editor
  • excellent draw distance
  • mods???
The list goes on. However, if you thinking of buying the physical copy of the game, it will feature on 7 discs, with a 5GB update to go with it. And if you're thinking of buying the game online and downloading it, the game requires a 16GB install. So if you're thinking of buying the game for PC this weekend, make sure your PC can run it!

So what do you think of this weeks news? Are you going to invest in an Xbox One now its down to £299.99? Are you looking forward to Star Wars: Battlefront? Will you be buying GTA V for the PC?

Let me know in the comments section below, and as always, thank for reading!

Connor :)
